The country is now experiencing a sharp increase in the Omicron virus. If Thailand follows other countries like South Africa, Denmark, UK and more, the peak will come at the early beginning of March and then sharply decline. The spread will almost certainly more or less vanish one of the two last weeks in March. Good news for Thai people and travelers.
No mask Thailand
A week ago the government started to discuss if Thailand will declare the virus to be endemic in March. If that happens many things will change. Most, if not all restrictions will be lifted, making life easier for all Thais and all visitors. We do not know the full plan yet but the situation is very encouraging. Whether the mask mandate will still be in place remains to be seen. My guess is that the mask mandate will be one of the last mandates to be lifted.
